Fannie Mae has announced that senior Pfizer lawyer Bradley Lerman will join the taxpayer-owned mortgage giant as its general counsel starting 1 October.Mr Lerman was Pfizer’s associate general counsel and chief litigation counsel, reports web site Law.com, and was responsible for leading the company’s product and commercial litigation, government investigations, and patent litigation teams. The position at Fannie Mae was left vacant when former GC Timothy Mayopoulos was promoted to be the company’s president and chief executive.
Elsewhere, Banco Santander has hired Javier Illescas, a corporate finance partner at Uria Menendez since 2010. Mr Illescas will lead the newly-created business legal affairs division and will act as legal counsel overseeing the banking group’s business units, reports The Lawyer newspaper.
London-based property investment company Capital & Counties Properties (Capco) announced that Anne Byrne will become its first in-house legal counsel in February, reports The Lawyer. Ms Byrne worked as a partner at magic circle firm Linklaters and advised Capco on a joint venture with entities owned by Hong Kong’s Kwok family last year.
Rob Miller, the former international legal chief at consumer web site Living Social, will take on a role as the in-house legal counsel for on-line games developer King.com, The Lawyer also reports. He will be responsible for all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters and will be a member of senior management at King.com. In addition to Living Social, Mr Miller has held previous positions at industry-shaping websites such as Skype and eBay.
