Ms Anderson, deputy general counsel of the Department of Homeland Security, previously was a partner in the Washington, DC law firm Hogan and Hartson, reports Inside Vandy.
Ms Anderson will provide legal advice to all Vanderbilt departments in areas covering contracts, intellectual property, taxation, business matters, health care law, and personnel issues.
Houston-based independent oil and gas company Black Elk Energy Offshore Operations has announced the appointment of its first general counsel, Marizza Piché. Ms Piché joins the company with over twenty years of legal experience in the oil and gas industry, most recently as general counsel with Boa Marine Services.
In a statement of the company’s web site, President and Chief Executive Officer of Black Elk Energy John Hoffman said: ‘Marizza brings a distinct blend of legal understanding and technical skills to the company and through her guidance, we expect to identify opportunities to improve the way we manage legal services and realize certain risk management benefits. The Society of Composers, Authors & Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) has appointed copyright expert Gilles Daigle as its general counsel, replacing Paul Spurgeon, who has retired.
Mr Daigle worked for more than 23 years as SOCAN's external legal counsel at Gowling Lafleur Henderson where he has represented SOCAN in numerous legal proceedings before the Copyright Board of Canada and the Courts reports Broadcaster magazine.
Nasdaq reports that Tom Nord, general counsel at commercial jet engine leasing company Willis Lease Finance Corporation, is to retire on 31 March.
Dean Poulakidas, currently senior counsel for Willis Lease, will succeed Mr Nord as the company’s top legal advisor.
