The Motion Picture Association of America has recruited Steven Fabrizio, its main outside counsel on copyright and content protection, from Jenner & Block to serve as its new general counsel. He takes over from Henry Hoberman who left after two years in September. Arriving in December, Mr Fabrizio will be in charge of all legal, content protection and management rights issues for the organisation, according to Variety.
Company secretary and general counsel Scott Langford is leaving Newcrest Mining on Friday. He plans to take a break for 12 months for personal and family reasons, according to the Business Spectator. Before a successor is found, deputy company secretary Peter Larsen will take on the company secretary role. Senior managers at the Australian company have taken pay cuts recently as Newcrest has gone through a difficult time, announcing a net loss of A$5.8 billion. Source: Business Spectator.
Transocean, the offshore gas and oil drilling contractor, is appointing Lars Sjobring as its new general counsel and senior vice president, based in Geneva. He will joining when he has worked out his notice period at automotive safety supplier Autoliv, where he is general counsel and secretary. He takes over at Transocean from interim senior vice president and general counsel Allen Katz. Source: Wall St Journal online
Experienced international lawyer J Robert Sandoval is taking over as general counsel and corporate secretary at Essar Steel Algoma. His last post was at Caterpillar where he held a range of offices, including managing attorney in Latin America and the Caribbean. In previous roles he has spent time in Europe, South African, Russia, Australia, Canada and China, accord to the Sault Star.
