In another media business move, David Mandell is taking up the appointment of executive vice president and general counsel at TV Guide Network with immediate effect. He has previously held senior legal posts at Mandalay Digital and Gemstar-TV Guide. He will be based in Los Angeles and will oversee a range of legal work including content distribution agreements and IP rights. Source: MarketWatch
Stephen Kay, head of the Hogan Lovells office in Los Angeles, is to start as senior vice president and general counsel at Raku, the platform for streaming software for delivering video, music and games to TV. The appointment takes effect from January. Mr Kay is also co-head of the Hogan Lovells global TMT sector team, and his clients have included News Corporation and 21st Century Fox. Peter Solmssen, general counsel at Siemens, is standing down at the end of the year, by mutual agreement. He was with the company in the roles of GC and head of legal and compliance for six years, sitting on the board. His successor, Christian Hoffmann, will not, however, have a seat on the board. Mr Hoffmann is currently corporate and finance GC at the company and was previously a partner in Baker & McKenzie and Ashcroft. Source: Legal Week
