Amsterdam based global telecommunications provider VimpelCom has appointed Scott Dresser as group general counsel. Mr Dresser also joins the group executive board and the group management board. Jeffrey McGhie, previously group general counsel and chief corporate affairs officer, will remain with VimpelCom as senior adviser to the company on specific issues. Mr Dresser was most recently Vice President of Global Strategic Initiatives at BirdLife International, a global conservation organisation operating in 118 countries. He also worked with Virgin Media in the UK, including as general counsel where he led the legal department and liaised with the Board of Directors.
US company Minerva Neurosciences has appointed a new general counsel. Mark Levine joins the company as vice president and general counsel. He will be responsible for the company's legal affairs and report to company president and CEO Rogerio Vivaldi. He joins the company, which works in the development of new therapies to treat neuropsychiatric diseases and disorders, after 17 years experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer. He was previously assistant general counsel of athenahealth, which was a cloud-based service provider to medical practices and health systems.
US company LifeLinc Anesthesia has announced that Charles Key will be its general counsel. Mr Key, who is a past chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Health Law Section, was previously a partner with Wyatt Tarrant & Combs.
National Mortgage Insurance Corporation has appointed Bill Leatherberry as its general counsel. He joins from aluminum company Century Aluminum where he was executive vice president, chief legal officer, general counsel and secretary since 2005. Mr Leatherberry began his career at Jones Day.
Bahamas gaming resort Baha Mar has appointed Whitney Their as executive vice president and general counsel. Ms Their will report to company president Tom Dunlap. She succeeds Uri Clinton who, after three years, is relocating back to Las Vegas. She joins the company as it finishes its construction phase and prepares to open in Spring 2015. The resort will feature an elite collection of hotel brands with gaming, entertainment, private residences, shopping and natural attractions.
