Australian firm sees 67 pc profit rise after UK investments

Melbourne-based personal injury plaintiff law firm Slater & Gordon has recorded a 67 per cent profit rise after its expansion into the UK.

The firm took advantage of October 2012 changes in UK law which enable individuals or organisations other than UK lawyers to offer legal services. It took over leading UK firm Russell Jones & Walker in spring this year and has more recently moved on to acquire Taylor Vintners and Goodmans. 

UK strong in PI market

Managing partner Andrew Grech said, according to, The Australian Times that 2013/14 financial year ' is expected to be an exciting and very busy year as the group integrates new businesses in the UK whilst continuing to grow the Australian business organically.  The regulatory changes in the UK are providing some terrific opportunities. The UK is experiencing a greater rate of consolidation in the PI claims market than first expected.'
