Australian lawyers disillusioned by flat pay

Pay packets at most of the large practices in Australia have stayed flat over the last 12 months, leading to dissatisfaction among lawyers.

The annual salary survey from recruiters Taylor Root shows growing disgruntlement, most notably in areas which are bringing in the largest amounts of income to the firm. Matt Harris of Taylor Root told Lawyers Weekly: 'If work volume is increasing, but team sizes are shrinking, it’s not surprising that lawyers [who are] consistently 20, 30, 40 per cent over budget are taking the news of frozen salaries badly.'
