Billing problems 'systemic', says Legal Commissioner

Billing malpractices urge change in investgation law B.Stefanov

In his annual report for 2012/13, he says: 'We are troubled by some of the apparently systemic billing malpractices we have uncovered, which cause us to believe that potentially large numbers of unsuspecting consumers may have been short-changed in ways that could entitle them to refunds.' The Commissioner urges changes in the law which would make it easier for investigations to be launched in cases of suspected misbehaviour. Under current rules, inquiries can be launched only if the client makes a complaint. Source: Legal Services Commissioner annual report.
