Bingham said to be seeking merger

Boston-based, 800-lawyer firm Bingham McCutchen is said to have approached at least four other practices to discuss merger in the last three months.

Sources have told Reuters that the 123-year old practice has spoken to Chicago-based Winston & Strawn, Philadelphia-based Morgan Lewis & Bockius as well as O’Melveny & Myers and  Morrison & Foerster. The firm is said to be seeking a merger partner after demand for its services has diminished among corporates. Corporate clients are slashing budgets and cutting what they will pay to their external advisers. Source: Reuters
