Boutique trend hits DLA and Covington

The former Middle East managing partner of DLA Piper and Covington & Burling's EU litigation chief have become the latest lawyers to leave large firms to set up their own practices.

Brussels lawyer Damiel Geradin has set up a new practice pavel dudek

Damiel Geradin, Brussels-based co-head of EU litigation at Covington, is setting up his own competition practice, Edge: Legal Thinking. He describes the new firm as an 'EU competition law-specialized boutique law firm aiming to deliver independent legal advice of the highest quality to corporations, law firms and institutions'.

Meanwhile, Kuwait-based Abdul Aziz Al-Yaqout has left DLA to create Meysan Partners with collaborator Bader El-Jeann, formerly GC at The Carlyle Group. The firm has five lawyers and aims to have another 15 within the year, developing into a network covering the Gulf by 2020. Sources: Meysan and Legal Business
