BP ping-pong continues on Gulf leak

BP is appealing against a Christmas Eve court decision which requires it to pay compensation over the Deepwater Horizon oil leak even to businesses and people who have suffered no loss as a result of the spill.

On Christmas Eve Judge Carl Barbier of the New Orleans District Court ordered that the company continue to make such payments. Appealing to the Fifth Circuit Appeals Court, BP will hope to get a more sympathetic reception - as this court has been more sympathetic to the energy giant in the past. Source: Financial Times
