Clifford Chance has been called to task by the Law Ministry in Singapore for giving an allegedly 'inaccurate picture' of the scope of its services.

The firm, working with local firm Cavenagh Law, was quoted as saying in July that it was 'the first full service firm in Singapore offering litigation advice'. However, Law Minister K Shanmugam said, according to the Straits Times, that such a statement would suggest that a foreign law firm could now carry out litigation in Singapore. He added: 'This would not be accurate.'  Accordingly, Clifford Chance and Cavenagh Law have been called in to the Law Ministry and told that their utterances 'conveyed an inaccurate picture and should be stopped'.
