Singapore adds more business-friendly rules

Singapore's attractiveness through its legal rules continues to grow - with the latest addition being the announcement of business-friendly proposals on data protection.

Known for its attractive tax laws for foreigners and the success of its arbitration centre, Singapore is now proceeding with a new Data Protection Act. Writing in ZD Net, Singapore-based lawyer Rob Bratby says: 'The fundamental differences between the European and Singaporean approaches to data protection means that, in general, businesses in Singapore can expect a continuing business-friendly approach to data protection interpretation and enforcement.'
