The firms are revising down their forecasts for fee income despite a strong first quarter, according to research from Deloitte whcih found that the top 10 look set for the worst ride.
The company found that despite restructuring or redundancies, fee-earner headcount had risen in the top 100 firms.
A report in the Financial Times said that firms now expected annual income to grow by 3.3 per cent compared to forecasts of 5.7 per cent which was anticipated 12 months ago.
