Clifford Chance outstrips rivals in partnership round

London-based magic circle firm Clifford Chance has made up 27 lawyers to its global partnership - an increase from last year's figure of 23 and four more than the practice's nearest magic circle rivals.

Clifford Chance London Docklands HQ: 27 more places at the partnership lunch table

The Lawyer newspaper reports that London saw a relatively small share of the new partners with four appointments, as CC preferred to buff up numbers across the globe. The Middle East experienced the largest influx of partners with five promotions, while other critical markets -- such as Brazil – were also saw significant growth.
It is business as usual in terms of the practice areas benefiting from the new partners, reports the newspaper, as CC’s traditionally strong finance practice gains 10, followed by corporate with seven and litigation with four.
CC’s 27 partner appointments sees the firm race ahead of its magic circle rivals, as Allen & Overy and Linklaters both made up 23 partners and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer made 20.
The lawyers take up their new positions on 1 May.
