Clifford Chance already has a long-standing relationship with Barclays. According to the Financial Times, CC - as well as New York's Sullivan & Cromwell - advised Barclays on its £290m settlement with US and UK authorities into allegations that it rigged Libor and other benchmark rates.

Charles Evans joined Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, international arbitration head Joseph Tirado moved to Winston & Strawn and Steve Abraham jumped ship to Baker & McKenzie.
