CMS is reopening its doors in Hong Kong with a new practice focused on dispute resolution and M&A, to be headed by CMS Hasche Sigle international arbitration partner Nicholas Wiegand. The international firm grouping’s UK arm CMS Cameron McKenna had operated an office in Hong Kong until 2003, when it wound down the outpost as part of a strategy which shifted its focus away from Asia. The renewed push in Hong Kong comes hot on the heels of CMS’ entrance into the Iranian legal market, which has also been headed by partners from the German arm. ‘We look for markets that offer the greatest business potential for us,’ said CMS executive Cornelius Brandi. ‘Geographic expansion is often part of our clients’ growth strategy. So, we move primarily into regions where we feel there will be future growth opportunities for them.’
