Former general counsel Carlton Chen of Wilton and vice president of business development Merrick Alpert of Mystic are seeking millions of dollars in compensation for lost pay after they were sacked last October over alleged fraud, reports Corporate Counsel magazine.
Wrongful discharge
Mr Chen and Mr Alpert have both filed eight-count employment lawsuits against Colt CEO emeritus William Keys, Colt's Manufacturing and Colt Defence. The duo is represented by Kelley Drye & Warren partner James Nealon.
Colt’s Manufacturing is represented by Hinkley Allen & Snyder partner John Droney who said that the wrongful discharge claims would be defended ‘vigorously’, although the allegations have ‘no merit’.
Day Pitney lawyer Albert Zakarian is representing Colt Defence.
The two lawyer-executives were extremely high-profile, with Mr Chen often presented as the public face of Colt.
