Contention over efforts to regulate telecoms in Turks and Caicos

The Turks and Caicos is in the throes of a parliamentary debate over legislation to regulate telecommunications and broadcasting under a single regulator. The Bills, the Broadcasting Commission Bill and Telecommunications Bill 2014, would create a Telecommunications Commission to regulate the currently unregulated telecoms industry in the Turks and Caicos.  The controversial legislation has seen much opposition.
