Barristers and solicitors are planning to have a full day strike on Friday 7 March in protest at the Ministry of Justice’s decision to cut £220m from the legal aid budget. It is the second strike over legal aid cuts in three months.
Justice Secretary Chris Grayling announced early last year plans for a 30 per cent cut in the annual £2bn bill despite 40 per cent planned reductions already set in motion. The revised proposals for alternatives to the increased pay reductions submitted by the Bar Council and the Criminal Bar Association have been ignored by the government. Source: The Guardian
