Cross-border litigation on the rise

Nearly half of lawyers and executives surveyed in a new poll believe that complicated cross-border disputes have been on the rise over the last two years.

The research, involving 146 senior lawyers and executives, found that 90 per cent of such disputes involve at least two or three foreign countries. The most common trigger is a customer dispute. IP and competition are other common problems. Michael Davison of Iosco said: 'Lawyers are expected to anticipate and address legal or regulatory hurdles in advance. Having an early assessment of pros and cons of pursuing the dispute is important.' Source: FT.com
