Debevoise lawyer heads for SEC

Debevoise & Plimpton lawyer Mary Jo White, who is poised to head up the US Securities and Exchange Commission, has said she will step away from work related to financial clients.

According to Fox Business news, she told the Senate Banking Committee there were few instances when she would need to excuse herself due to conflict on interest and could participate fully in writing rules to implement the Dodd-Frank financial reform law and other regulations. Her legal defence work ranges for clients form JP Morgan, UBS and Deloitte & Touche.
The US Senate is likely to confirm her nomination, according to Foxbusiness.
