Jarred Hardman, CEO of Crowd & Co, the new freelance lawyer employment platform, says that the legal industry worldwide will start to take part in something called the 'gig economy' - matching waves of work demand with a flexible supply of workers.
Downward pressure
Mr Hardman says that law firms have not managed to stop the price pressures they face. He said: 'They've done a lot of restructuring of their cost base, but that downward pressure is still there. They need to find a better way of [responding].' Mr Hardman suggests that part of the response will be matching employee costs to the revenue they can generate, by hiring lawyers on a flexible basis.
