Dentons makes gift to firefighters after US$15m Detroit bill

Dentons is making a US$500,000 donation to firefighters in Detroit after earning over $15m from representing retirees in the city's bankruptcy case.

The law firm says that its donation will buy a range of goods including fire hose, breathing masks and other replacements for old equipment. The firm acted for the Office Committee of Retirees from August 2013 and beyond. The city exited Chapter 9 bankruptcy on December 10. By late October, Dentons had billed for $15m and another update on the fees it earned is due to be published next week.

Great city

Peter Wolfson, CEO of Dentons, said: 'Working with the committee has strengthened our belief in the future of this great city and wish to help revitalize and sustain the community where the city’s retired working men and women worked and many still live.' Source: Detroit News
