The accused, 21-year old Jamyra Gallmon, has been charged with first degree murder and will appear in court again on Friday for a preliminary hearing. Police investigations have found that David Messerschmitt had advertised on Craigslist 'soliciting responses from other men'. He and Ms Gallmon communicated online.

Evidence

Ms Gallmon has told police that she went to the room at the Donovan Hotel with the intention of robbing him. When he grabbed her, she stabbed him and a fight began. An autopsy found at least seven stab wounds. When Ms Gallmon's apartment was search, the police say they found 'numerous pieces of evidence related to the homicide'.

Handcuffs

Zip ties were found in Ms Gallmon's flat and she says that she brought some to the hotel but did not use them. Police officers found zip ties on the lawyer's fingers which 'appeared to be affixed together into makeshift handcuffs', according to a court document. Source: ABC
