The promotions – which span 15 countries and a wide spectrum of practice areas -- are effective from 1 January 2012 in the US and 1 May 2012 for jurisdictions in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, subject to any necessary local regulatory filings.
The firm’s corporate department saw the lion’s share of promotions with 14 new partners. It was followed by intellectual property (11), litigation and regulatory (10) and finance and projects (eight).
The firm -- formed in 2005 by a merger between San Diego-based Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, Chicago-based Piper Rudnick and London-based DLA – stayed true to its roots with 22 new partners in the US and 12 UK appointments. Continental Europe was also heavily invested in, with 17 promotions.
