According to a report in The Guardian newspaper, Michael Raymond Chudley, 62, is accused of causing serious injuries to 58-year-old Jim Ward, who works at Morris Goddard & Ward in Devizes.
Mr Ward suffered a single gunshot wound from the attack on Monday. Police confirmed that four other people in the office at the time were not hurt.
Mr Chudley is charged with making threats to kill, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and carrying a firearm with criminal intent, and is scheduled to appear at Salisbury magistrates today.
Mr Ward was airlifted to Frenchay hospital in Bristol. Police said yesterday that he remained seriously ill.
