Litigation specialist Paul Friedman is to join Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan as a partner based in the firm’s London office. He joins from Clyde & Co, where he has been a partner for over 12 years.

DLA Piper global arbitration head ­Matthew Saunders has been hired as a partner in Ashurst’s London dispute ­resolution practice.

Fieldfisher has appointed Azad Ali as a new partner in its financial services regulatory practice. Mr Ali was most recently counsel at Shearman & Sterling, having been at the firm since 2005.

DWF has hired David Kidman as a partner in the firm’s insurance team in London. Mr Kidman joins from the partnership of BLM.

Fasken ­Martineau’s contentious intellectual property head Ralph Cox has been hired by Clyde & Co as a partner.          

Berwin Leighton Paisner has appointed partner Anthea Bamford to its real estate practice group from Clifford Chance, where she was a senior associate in the transactional real estate team.

Dentons has hired 11 lawyers for its Milan office, which was launched last October. Former Studio Rucellai & Raffae­lli partner Sara Biglieri will lead the litigation and arbitration group. Partner Andrea Fiorelli will be head of tax, having joined from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Pinsent Masons has hired a trio of partners from KPMG to launch its second German office in Düsseldorf this month. Among them is KPMG’s energy and major projects head Thorsten Volz, who will lead Pinsents’ German energy practice and head its Düsseldorf office.

Hogan Lovells has appointed M&A partner Birgit Reese to its Düsseldorf office. She joins from Allen & Overy in Düsseldorf, where she has been a partner since 2008.

Norton Rose Fulbright partner Mélanie Thill-Tayara has joined Dechert as a partner in the antitrust and competition practice in Paris.

Kennedys has boosted its Dublin office with the hire of partner Daniel Scanlon into its insurance and litigation practice. He joins from Maples and Calder, where he was a senior associate.
