Bloomberg Law reports that Comey yesterday said in Washington that ‘our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case,’ despite evidence that Clinton and her staff were ‘extremely careless in their handling of highly classified information.’ But he added that his recommendations would go to prosecutors, who would make the final determination about whether to bring indictments against Clinton or her associates.
Sloppiness
His statement was a damning portrayal of sloppiness in handling sensitive information by Clinton and her aides. Clinton increased the risk of her communications being intercepted by hostile nations by not using a government server, Comey said, and ‘any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position’ should have ‘known that an unclassified system was no place’ for the sensitive information she handled as the top US diplomat.
