Fieldfisher has launched a dispute resolution practice in Berlin with the hire of a partner from German commercial law firm Flick Gocke Schaumburg.
Benny Wünschmann spent 14 years at his former firm and specialises in disputes arising from corporate transactions and venture capital investments, including post-M&A and post-exit conflicts, shareholder disputes and disputes concerning the duties and liabilities of corporate officers.
Philipp Plog, managing partner for Fieldfisher Germany, said Wünschmann was “a strong partner”.
“He brings a wealth of experience in complex disputes and a broad perspective on corporate and transaction law," Plog said, adding Wünschmann "will strengthen our advisory services in corporate disputes while further developing our Berlin office.”
Wünschmann brings Fieldfisher's Berlin office to seven partners and follows the hire of digital finance expert Eric Romba last month from Osborne Clarke to expand its capital markets and fund advisory capabilities in the city. It also adds to the firm's existing dispute resolution teams across Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
Other recent Germany hires include technology and data partner Simon Assion in Frankfurt from Bird & Bird and real estate partner Michael Ziegaus-Clavien in Munich from DLA Piper.
The hires form part of a broader growth push by Fieldfisher in support of its stated aim to become Europe's leading law firm, which also saw it add large teams to debut in Poland and Portugal in the 2026 financial year.
The firm pointed to strong growth in its European network including Germany when it reported a 4% revenue increase to £398m in the year to 31 March, though profit per equity partner fell slightly to £975k following “significant investment” in its capabilities and infrastructure.
Fieldfisher also boosted its London disputes bench in June with the hire of energy disputes partner Richard Power from Clyde & Co, shortly after naming new leadership for its dispute resolution practice.
