Former Dewey rainmaker files for bankruptcy

John Altorelli, who earned US$6m at Dewey LeBoeuf in 2011 and who is now co-chair of the DLA Piper US finance group, has filed for bankruptcy.

Mr Altorelli is facing a $12.9m suit from the Dewey bankruptcy trustee and the Internal Revenue Service is seeking taxes on cancelled debt. A larger than life character, he also achieved some notoriety through a relationship with Anna Chapman, who was arrested in 2010 and deported amid accusations that she was a Russian spy. Source: ABA
