US motorcycle-maker Harley-Davidson has hired Gayle Littleton as chief legal, compliance and corporate affairs officer, replacing Paul Krause who is leaving the company.

Littleton was most recently CLO at US utility giant Exelon. She was at Exelon until April last year, before taking on an advisory role at nuclear-focused AI start-up Atomic Canyon. Prior to Exelon, she spent five years at Jenner & Block, where she was a partner and co-chair of its investigation, compliance and defence practice.

She was also previously an assistant US attorney in the Northern District of Florida and the Northern District of Illinois, having earlier worked at Sidley Austin and Ropes & Gray.

In a US Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the company said Krause had ceased serving as its legal chief on 29 June, though will remain on until 1 September in an advisory role to support an orderly transition.

It said: “The company extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Krause for his leadership and the many meaningful contributions he made during his tenure and extends its best wishes as he pursues his next professional venture.”

Krause leaves the company after just over a decade, originally joining as senior legal counsel before working his way up to assistant general counsel and then CLO in 2020 after serving briefly as interim.

He was previously a senior counsel for litigation and employment at ArcelorMittal for six years, having started his career in private practice at employment specialist Littler Mendelson.

In other mobility-related moves, back in May, Toyota North America said it was promoting Chris Yang to CLO, replacing Sandra Philips who is retiring at the end of July. Yang was previously senior vice president for enterprise strategy and solutions for Toyota’s North American business and deputy chief compliance officer and deputy chief risk officer for Toyota.

In February, US helicopter services provider Bristow Group promoted Anne Rappold to CLO on a full-time basis, having filled in as interim following the departure of Elizabeth Matthews in August last year.

And in October last year, car rental firm Hertz hired Piero Bussani as CLO from US residential homebuilder Homebound, replacing GC Katherine Lee Martin.
