New York law firm Debevoise & Plimpton has announced that Matthew Howard Getz and Jessica Gladstone have been named International Counsel to the firm.
Mr Getz, who is based in the London office, is a member of the International Corporate Investigations and Defence Group and the International Dispute Resolution Group. His practice focuses on internal investigations, in particular regarding compliance with corrupt practices legislation.
Ms Gladstone, also from the London office, is a member of the International Dispute Resolution Group. Her practice focuses on complex litigation, international commercial and investment arbitration, and public international law.

London law firm Bird & Bird has re-elected Chief Executive Officer David Kerr and Chairman Michael Frie to their respective positions for a further three years.
The decision sees Mr Kerr continue his unbroken 17 year tenure as CEO, placing him among the longest-serving managing partners at major UK firms.
Meanwhile, Mr Frie has held the role of Chairman for the past six years following his joining of the firm in 2000 when it merged with Stockholm firm Gedda & Ekdahl, where he was managing partner.

Tim Elliott has been snapped up by CMS to strengthen the firm’s London-based international finance team.
Mr Elliott joins from London magic circle firm Allen & Overy where he specialized in structured and asset finance advising on debt and leasing transactions across the various asset classes and products.
His clients include export credit agencies, owners, banks, lessors and portfolio managers, advising on aircraft, ship and offshore marine financings and all associated procurement, chartering, operating and ancillary arrangements.

France

Capstan Avocats has announced several partner promotions across its French network.
Thomas Salomé in Paris, Nicolas Christau in Toulouse, and Marie-Pierre Olive and Luc Bachelot in Lyon have all been named as partners.

Middle East

Stephen Kelly has joined Atlanta-headquartered law firm King & Spalding as a partner in its Middle East team as the firm continues to expand its regional and international real estate practice
He joins the firm’s Dubai office as the ninth partner in the Gulf region. He previously worked at Clyde & Co, where he was a partner and led the firm’s Middle East real estate development team.

Australasia

Independent Australian commercial law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery has announced the capture of three leading cross-border M&A specialists as partners to its Sydney office.
The appointments further broaden the firm’s capability to advise domestic and offshore clients and law firms seeking representation in the Australian legal market.
The new arrivals are James Rozsa, Jeremy Davis and Byron Koster, formerly partners at Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

Global

City law firm Trowers & Hamlins has announced the promotion of seven new partners across its international network.
The new partners are: Paul Bartter (projects and construction, London); Kate Bouchier (housing projects, Manchester); Cheryl Cairns (construction, Dubai); Imogen Fisher (banking and finance, London); Nicola Ihnatowicz (employment, London); Peter Kitson (projects and construction, London) and Steve Nichol (litigation & dispute resolution, London).

Offshore

Prominent offshore law firm Ogier has announced the promotion of three senior lawyers.
Bryon Rees was promoted to managing associate while Robert Macredie and Sally Peedom were promoted to senior associates.
Mr Rees has been with Ogier since 2005 and advises on investment funds and corporate matters. He was admitted in South Africa in 2002 and in England and Wales in 2010.
Mr Macredie advises international and Guernsey clients on corporate, finance and investment fund matters. He  previously practised in the corporate transactions group at Baker & McKenzie in Sydney. Mr Macredie was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand in 2002 and was subsequently admitted in Australia in 2004.
Ms Peedom joined the firm in 2010. Her practice covers complex commercial litigation matters including cases involving contentious insolvency matters, share disputes, investment fund and trust disputes and construction disputes.  She joined the firm from Minter Ellison Lawyers and qualified in Australia in 2000.
