Japanese lawyers march against secrecy law

The lawyers are calling for the abolition of the soon to be enacted law which would dramatically expand the definition of state secrets.

Osaka: Lawyers unite against secrecy law Sean Pavone

The lawyers, who are members of the Osaka Bar Association, were protesting about the controversial legislation which would allow the government to designate a wide range of information as state secrets. Civil servants who leaked the so-called state secrets could be sentenced to ten years in prison whilst journalists who encouraged such leaks could be jailed for up to five years. Source: Global Post
