BBC News reports that partner Chris Gossage at London law firm Russells Solicitors and his friend Judith Callegari were taken to court by Ms Rowling’s solicitor who told Mr Justice Tugendhat of the identity revelation. Ms Rowling’s agent was told by Russells that Mr Gossage had passed on the information to Ms Callegari, who proceeded to tweet it to a journalist, leaving Ms Rowling ‘dismayed and distressed by such a fundamental betrayal of trust,’ the court heard.
Charitable donation
Russells made an apology to Ms Rowling and agreed to reimburse her legal costs and pay a donation to the Soldier’s Charity, the same charity to which Ms Rowling announced she was donating all of the royalties generated by ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’, a novel whose protagonist is a war veteran.
