Jacksonville general counsel is safe in her job after a lawsuit seeking to have her removed from office was dismissed Kellis

Jacksonville general counsel Cindy Laquidara is safe in her job after a judge threw out a lawsuit seeking to have her removed from office. The suit was filed after questions were asked about Laquidara’s selection process. The general counsel had been appointed for a one year term in 2010 and reappointed in 2011 but critics argued that the process was designed for a short-term appointment and that further screening was needed for a permanent position. The case was brought by a Jacksonville resident and the Concerned Taxpayers of Duval County. However,  state judge Robert M Foster said that such a case could only be brought by the attorney general or a person claiming they were legally entitled to hold the office.
