Bloomberg reports that Assistant US Attorney Evan Norris didn’t name the defendants considering guilty pleas at a hearing on Monday before US District Judge Pamela Chen. He also told the judge that federal investigators are still reviewing hundreds of thousands of documents produced after American officials asked their Paraguayan counterparts to search the headquarters of CONMEBOL, the South American soccer federation. Some of those documents may contain material that could be important to the defense, he said.
Guilty pleas
In total, 40 people have been charged in the corruption case, and 15 people, plus two companies, have pleaded guilty. Judge Chen scheduled a trial for eight remaining defendants in the US for 6 November, 2017.
