Law firms line up for defence giant merger

Law firms are lining up for a bit of the action on the potential £30.5 million mega-merger of European defence giants EADS and BAE Systems.

Eurofighter: an EADS design

French firm Darrois Villey Mailot Brochier is taking the overall lead for EADs with Netherlands firm Nauta Dutilh providing Dutch advice.

Meanwhile, Freshfields senior partner and corporate specialist Will Lawes has taken the lead role for the UK’s BAE. Dutch and US partners from the firm are also reportedly involved.

London’s Clifford Chance will advise Dutch aerospace group EADS on UK aspects with a team led by global corporate head Matthew Layton.
