Law firms searched by customs police in Portugal money launder probe

The military police has searched 91 establishments, including law and accountancy firms, and seized 1,500 vehicles as part of an investigation into the buying and selling of cars - in what is the largest seizure of such vehicles by these squads.

The operation involved 300 officers of the National Republican Guard. Some 30 individuals have been identified as defendants. The total value of items seized, including gold and other items as well as the cars, is estimated at about €44m.

Lisbon and Faro

A statement released by the force says that the individuals are suspected of crimes including money laundering, qualified tax fraud and criminal association. The searches took place in four locations including Lisbon and Faro. Source: The Portugal News
