Lawyers attend New York mindfulness event

Some 80 lawyers recently attended a mindfulness event at the Garrison Institute which is dedicated to contemplation, action and transformation - a sign of a growing desire among some lawyers to reduce stress and connect better with the natural world.

One of the attendees, matrimonial lawyer Cari Rincker, said: 'I forgot how nice it is to be outside and listen to birds chirp.' Some law firms have begun to do more to help lawyers preserve or strengthen their mental health. The approach does not appeal to all, of course. When asked to wish well silently to three other people in the room where another mindfulness session was taking place, one senior lawyer is said to have responded: 'I didn’t see anyone worthy.' Source: ABA
