Two lawyers from Fox Rothschild are caught up in a conflict of interest query after federal prosecutors asked a judge in Seattle to investigate whether they have a conflict in representing the son of a Russian lawmaker who was arrested for hacking. The prosecutors were concerned that Robert Ray and Ely Goldin's law firm was also representing victims in the alleged hacking incident and could be called to cross-examine their own client.
Not guilty plea
The case occured when Roman Seleznev, son of Valery Seleznev, was arrested at an airport in the Maldives last month and transferred to Seattle. He pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing hundreds of thousands of credit card numbers from point-of-sale terminals and selling them online.The lawyers are not being accused of any wrongdoing and had offered to create a Chinese wall within the firm, which the prosecutor said was not enough.
