Legal sector lags others on diversity

African Americans and Hispanics account for only 8.4% of lawyers in the US - even though they make up 25% of the population.

Women: numbers falling wavebreakmedia

The study, commissioned by Microsoft, shows that this group is better represented among financial managers (18.9%), doctors (12.3%) and accountants (16.5%). Another survey, done by the National Association for Law Placement, shows the numbers of women associates falling slightly for the fourth year running. In 2009, they made up 45.66% of associates - while the proportion is now 44.79%. Source: ABA Journal.
