Legora has agreed to acquire UK AI litigation intelligence start-up Wexler, its fifth acquisition this year.

The deal adds specialist disputes technology to fast-growing Swedish generative AI specialist Legora's offering.

Wexler's technology helps lawyers organise and verify facts in litigation, locating evidence in case files that can contain more than one million documents. Its clients include Clifford Chance, Goodwin and Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer.

Wexler's 18-strong team will form part of the first wave of staff at Sweden-based Legora's London engineering hub, which opened last month.

Max Junestrand, CEO and co-founder of Legora, said: "Every dispute and every investigation comes down to the facts, and finding them is often the most manual and expensive part of legal work.
"As agentic systems take on more of that work, fact queries won't just grow, they'll multiply by orders of magnitude. Wexler is the infrastructure built to handle that scale today."

Gregory Mostyn, CEO and co-founder of Wexler, said "fact-layering" is the most challenging aspect of disputes work, with an arduous review process needed to map out information.

He added: "From a week-long investigation to a decade-long class action, building the case brain has never been harder, and it has never mattered more. We are delighted to be joining Legora and to continue serving the expert litigators and investigators working on the world's most complex cases, as well as the in-house teams trying to get ahead of those cases before they're ever filed."

London-based Wexler says it has built a client base across Europe and the US, expanded to an 18-person team and grown revenue eightfold over the past 12 months. It also reports net revenue retention of 400%.

Wexler was founded three years ago by Mostyn and Kush Madlani after the pair spent almost a year as founders in residence at venture capital firm Entrepreneurs First.

The acquisition is Legora's fifth since March.

In early June, it acquired commercial real estate AI platform Cadastral, seeking to expand its coverage in legally intensive industries such as real estate.

In May, it agreed to acquire Melbourne-based regulatory horizon scanning start-up Graceview to strengthen its presence in the Australian legal market.

A month earlier, it acquired Swedish legal research start-up Qura, describing the deal as a significant step in building its AI platform by incorporating Qura's specialised search engine.

In March, it bought Canadian agentic legal AI platform Walter AI to expand in Canada, adding customers including Fasken and McCarthy Tétrault.

Legora has now raised $600m after extending its funding round by a further $50m in May, valuing the company at $5.6bn.

The deal follows a broader consolidation trend in legal AI. Earlier this month, Legora rival Harvey agreed to acquire New York-based Benchmark, an AI platform for investment firms, to accelerate its expansion into asset management.
