Law firms can get litigation finance when awaiting clients to pay bills OPOLJA

A Chicago litigation finance firm, Gerchen Keller Capital, has raised  $475 million for its latest private fund, bringing its assets to around $800 million. However, it is expanding its model from investing in lawsuits at early stages to using the funds to buy the rights to collect legal fees, judgments and settlements. According to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, the financing will permit companies and law firms to collect awards that may be waiting on court approval. The company lends to companies and law firms throughout the litigation process, from providing law firms lump-sum payments against client bills to lending in mediation or settlement negotiations.
