Indian law firms are looking for new opportunities to grow, as the Bar Council of India softens its approach to the admission of foreign law firms. A number of legal practices told the Economic Times that they were looking for mergers or new opportunities to grow their practices and would be open to approaches from foreign firms. Ramesh Vaidyanathan, founder of Advaya Legal, is one such practitioner. He said his firm would be interested in merging with a good foreign firm. Meanwhile, Harish Narasappa of Samvad Partners said he would also be looking for opportunities to grow his firm organically. Foreign firms such as Allen & Overy are still keen to look at India despite the difficulties experienced by foreign law firms there thus far.
