London corporate partner to head up Linklaters US business

Linklaters corporate partner Tom Shropshire is to lead the firm's US practice, with Scott Bowie set to retire just two years after taking up the posiiton.

Mr Shropshire has long been considered a rising star at the firm and in 2015 was one of six parters shortlisted for Managing Partner  - a role which ultimately went to Gideon Moore. Mr Shropshire, who is a US corporate specialist has been with the firm for almost 20 years andco-leads the firm’s operational intelligence group that helps clients deal with risk, regulatory and governance issues. 

City and NYC-based

However as head of the firm’s global US practice he will split his time between the city and New York and take up a seat on the firm’s executive committee.

Billions of pounds cases

Mr Shropshire has advised Amec on its £1.9 billion acquisition of Foster Wheeler in 2014 and also advised the banks Underwriting Standard Chartered’s £3.3 billion rights issue a year later.
