Luxury general counsel have called for global standards when managing the supply chain but say that these would be difficult to implement. Speaking at the Luxury Law Summit in London last week, a group of general counsel said that luxury companies were operating in various jurisdictions with different regulations. One general counsel said that the EU had tried to standardise regulations but in different industries. Alison Lazerwitz, executive vice president and general counsel of Swarovski pointed out that it was also different for companies such as those which were supplying fur or diamonds. The event attracted 250 luxury lawyers.
