Graham Beale, CEO of Nationwide will speak about the importance of leadership in the management of corporate reputation at a new event, convened by Populus, the research and strategy consultancy. The Trust & Reputation Perspective event will take place in London on 2 July and is designed to ensure that reputational risk and a focus on building – or, indeed, rebuilding - trust with consumers, government and the media is at the top of board room agendas. There is a special attendance rate for Global Legal Post readers – see the end of the article.
Legal perspective
Sir Nigel Knowles, Global Co Chairman of DLA Piper will be adding a legal perspective to the debate. DLA Piper have been working with Populus and with the SAID Business School over the last two years to build a better understanding of the trust relationship between government, business and the media – their research indicates that trust levels have barely improved since the damage caused by the global financial crisis, with business leaders in particular feeling that politicians are not supportive. Sir Nigel has promised to share some of the ideas from the joint working group designed to help mend the rift.
The many faces of reputation
Populus will be revealing new research at the event in the form of two new reports – the first, in partnership with Reputation.com, will provide a consumer segmentation analysis on the “Many Faces of Reputation”, asking consumers about their attitudes towards the acceptability of common business practices and the likelihood that they will resort to supporting online campaigns when they feel that a business has transgressed. The second study, produced by MHP Communications takes the form of the Effective Communications Index 2015, providing a more international analysis of how well different business sectors communicate with key audiences.
Building from the inside out
David Wheldon, the newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer of RBS, will be speaking just days after he is due to join the bank, the ownership of which has been a key election battleground issue. Wheldon will use his experience of working with Vodafone and Barclays Bank to talk about building reputation from the inside out. Heads of corporate communication with Amazon, Sainsbury’s, McDonald’s, CH2M Hill and Anglian Water will also be speaking about the growing challenges for those tasked with defending and building corporate reputation – with a particular emphasis on how to identify and manage triggers for reputational risk.
