Manhattan firm offers 'gifts' to associates

In an attempt to look as much as possible like someone who has forgotten a relative's birthday and dashed out to pick up a gift voucher, New York-based firm Skadden has revealed it is to allow partners to make 'gifts' to high-performing associates.

The Above the Law website reports that the recently-deployed scheme – described in a firm email as ‘a tangible means of expressing appreciation to associates and counsel for exceptional efforts and performance’ – will see $200 American Express gift cards made available for those who reach certain goals.
ATL’s Elie Mystal comments: ‘The partners are digging deep into their pockets and coming up with some loose change.’
