Ava Farshidi, director – legal at Marc Jacobs, has been enlisted to the Luxury Law Alliance advisory board.

Farshidi, who is based in New York, joins senior representatives on the board from brands including Burberry, Charlotte Tilbury, Louis Vuitton, L’Oreal, Manolo Blahnik, Mulberry and PVH Corp.

In her role at Marc Jacobs, Farshidi works across different practices including general corporate, commercial contracts, real estate and compliance. Before joining Marc Jacobs, she held in-house counsel roles at David Yurman and Rebecca Minkoff.

Farshidi is also the founder of Avocate, a women’s mentoring network connecting law students and lawyers. Launched in 2018, Advocate sets itself apart as a resource for women in the legal industry to turn to for guidance, support and tangible resources on issues that are often overlooked or rarely discussed but are so important to the success of women. Avocate is built on the foundation of women supporting women with members based across the United States. It has plans to expand to other territories.

A frequent speaker and writer on issues within the fashion industry, Farshidi received the Luxury Law Rising Star Award in London in 2017 as part of the Luxury Law Summit. The awards recognise the skills needed to guide luxury businesses and their brands to profitable success and offer a unique opportunity for in-house lawyers and their advisers to gain recognition for their specialist skills and expertise. Farshidi has also spoken at several Luxury Law Alliance events over the years in both London and New York.
